CLIENT STORIES

Drs. Esther Pedersen and Sunny Patel, Love to Smile, Overland Park, KS

I would recommend Four Quadrants because they have done more than what they said they're going to do basically on everything this past year. We are beating projections, even just in the last 12 months, just blowing it out of the water already. I can't imagine what it's going to be like after doing this for a couple of decades.

Dr. Esther Pedersen:

Back in dental school in 2007 was the luckiest day of Sunny's life. You can cut that part. We got to talking, and both being Indian from Indian families, we have so much in common of how we were raised. We just kind of understood each other.

Dr. Sunny Patel:

Dental just appealed to me because it has a lot of artistic value to it. I was like, "Yeah, I can do this."

Dr. Esther Pedersen:

I love the business side of it. It's like the perfect combination of the healthcare, you get to help people on that side, but then you do get the art, you get to work with your hands, and then the business side. It's like the trifecta.

Dr. Esther Pedersen:

The major practice, the larger one that we have and our original practice, is in Overland Park, Kansas. It's a Kansas City suburb. It's a large community. It's such a stark contrast with our satellite practice in a small town in Missouri. It's a more blue collar to family working class environment.

Dr. Esther Pedersen:

We have a really great patient base where we see multi-generational families in our practice. We see grandparents all the way down to the grandkids. We're part of their lives. They're part of our lives. It's kind of our friends coming in.

Dr. Esther Pedersen:

It was very piecemeal the way that we were running things. We've always felt like we were chasing our management team. We had an accountant over here. We had a financial planner over here. We had an insurance person over here. We always felt like we were going to them, rather than someone watching us and saying, "Okay, now it's time for this," or "We're going to plan you and do this comprehensive treatment to get you to this point in your career."

Dr. Sunny Patel:

I remember with our previous accountant, a question, you'd have to sit there and explain it. Or I felt like I had to explain it to the accountant when it happened. When you know someone that's dental specific, they're like, "Oh, yeah. We know exactly how to handle this."

Dr. Sunny Patel:

For example, the newest piece of equipment we bought was the laser. Instead of focusing on what it does, Brogan was more, "Well, what is it going to do for the office?" He helped me kind of work through like, let's see how the return on investment is going to be, how it's going to affect patients, how it's going to affect the schedule, so the things that on the business side that you should be thinking about, because dentists always want to be like, "I got to have this because it's the coolest thing I've ever seen. But is it the best thing for the practice? Is it the right time for the practice? You can have it all, but you got to do it at the right time.

Dr. Esther Pedersen:

They were pretty clear about laying out what the expectations were. When they said, "Hey, we'll get you to this stage." I was like, "Okay. We'll see you in a year." Then after looking at it today, it's like, yeah, we really are there.

Dr. Sunny Patel:

I would recommend Four Quadrants because they've really streamlined the business part of our practice. Last year, it was a lot to be planned. But like I said, it's holding true and we're going to stick to the recipe.
