CLIENT STORIES

Dr. Scott and Gail Anderson, The Gentle Art of Dentistry, Houston, TX

The best news that I heard today with this meeting, is just how far we've come in the last three years. I never would've thought we'd be able to save as much money as we have, in three years. It's just totally blown us away from where we were, before we got started. I mean, it's just unbelievable what Four Quadrants has done.

Dr. Scott and Gail Anderson discuss how Four Quadrants has improved their practice and lives over the last three years.

FOUR QUADRANTS CLIENT SPOTLIGHT

Houston cosmetic dentist, Dr. J. Scott Anderson has the expertise, skills, and technology to give you the beautiful and healthy smile you deserve. He has been in practice for 26 years. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Purdue University. He maintains his pharmacy license in Indiana, Florida, and Texas. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas and maintains dual licensure in Florida and Texas.

Some of the advanced training Dr. Anderson brings to his practice includes implantation dentistry. When working with patients who need their teeth restored with implants, Dr. Anderson skillfully crafts the implant that is placed below the gumline as well as the restoration that appears above it as a tooth. Whether the implant is meant to replace one tooth or an entire upper or lower arch, using the latest technology in implants, such as the “Mini-Implant,” Dr. Anderson restores his patient’s smiles to the naturally beautiful and fully functional smile for which they have sought him out.

By incorporating sedation dentistry into his practice, Dr. Anderson has always held his patient’s comfort as a top priority. He understands that there are many people who are highly anxious and fearful about receiving dental care. Now, more than ever before, these patients can approach the idea of seeking dental treatment with a new peace of mind in knowing they can relax comfortably while Dr. Anderson restores their smiles.

One of the first dentists in Houston to practice sedation dentistry, Dr. Anderson is a member of the Dental Organization of Conscious Sedation as well as the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He received his IV sedation training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

Dr. Scott Anderson:

I'm originally here from Indiana. And we ended up in Houston. And the reason I ended up in Houston, was because I went to Purdue, and got a pharmacy degree and got a job with Walgreens. I didn't like retail, I didn't like corporate world and decided I needed to do something different. I decided I'd rather write prescriptions, then fill them. So I wanted to go back and be some kind of doctor. So I checked into being a medical doctor or being a dentist. And it sounded good to me. And working four days a week versus six days a week, was very enticing.

Dr. Scott Anderson:

I made arrangements to go back to the dental school and still work pharmacy on the weekends. And that was really good, to go do the pharmacy on the weekends, because every weekend I'd go do that ans say, "I don't want to do this anymore. I've got to stay in dental school." Literally, a month's time of being a pharmacist, I go, "I don't like this. I can't do this for the rest of my life."

Four Quadrants:

Many people were able to get out, certainly amid this week's flooding in Houston. Some decided to stay in their homes.

Dr. Scott Anderson:

It rained in our part of town. We got something like over somewhere between 15 to 20 inches of rain in a 24 hour period. It happened on Sunday night. We walk in Monday morning and it's just literally raining from the ceiling. So we were forced to move to a temporary location. A dentist down the road was very generous.

Gail Anderson:

I thought it was going to be a six week, maybe eight week.

Dr. Scott Anderson:

Yeah, the people at the building saying, "We're going to have you back in here in a couple months." Well, that turned out to be not true, pretty quick. They came in and demoed the building, just ripped everything out very quick. And we thought, they're going to get this thing rebuilt pretty quick. But they had problems with their insurance company and things just stopped. We said, "Hey, we've got to be proactive and look at going somewhere else." So we started looking around for other locations.

Gail Anderson:

First, the initial prognosis of the space was that it wasn't that damaged, but by the time the city came out and all the inspectors, it just had to be gutted.

Dr. Scott Anderson:

They were a lot of help. They really were a lot of help, because you can imagine going through that, how many financial decisions you have to make, getting a new lease, getting new equipment and just so many day-to-day things, that it was nice to have somebody who could call and answer questions for you.

Gail Anderson:

It was very helpful to have someone that had all their wits together that can say, "Hey, this is not going to be as detrimental as what you feel it's going to be." Because it really felt detrimental, at the time.

Dr. Scott Anderson:

Because you're really emotional, going through a state like that and you make decisions based on emotions. So you had somebody there to say, "Hey, this is what you really need to do. And this is going to work for you." So that helped a lot.

Dr. Scott Anderson:

The best news that I heard today with this meeting, is just how far we've come in the last three years. I never would've thought we'd be able to save as much money as we have, in three years. It's just totally blown us away from where we were, before we got started. I mean, it's just unbelievable what Four Quadrants has done.

Gail Anderson:

But at first it's to believe. We went through that flood. We ended up still saving for our retirement. We're like, "How is that possible? Here we thought we would potentially go bankrupt and [crosstalk 00:03:21].

Dr. Scott Anderson:

And that is so true, because we were at that temporary location, we're not doing anything near the production that we used to be and we still saved a bunch of money for retirement. It's like, "How did that happen?"

Dr. Scott Anderson:

They just come up with ideas that our previous financial advisor just never came up with this stuff, just never touched close to it. I would recommend Four Quadrants, because they had done more for us in the last three years and we did in 20 some years previously. It's just amazing. And that's why I highly recommend it to anybody.
