Please be advised, we do speak with an honest tongue and may not be safe for work.

Casey Hiers:
Hello and welcome. This is Casey Hiers, back at The Millionaire Dentist Podcast in studio with co-host Jarrod Bridgeman.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Hey, that's me.

Casey Hiers:
Looking dapper today. Look at that. Just a purple dress shirt.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Nice new purple shirt.

Casey Hiers:
GQ brother.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
That's right. I'm known as Genuine Quality. GQ.

Casey Hiers:
What does GQ stand for?

Jarrod Bridgeman:
I don't, guys quarterly.

Casey Hiers:
Yeah, that is right.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Is it?

Casey Hiers:
Gentlemen, gentlemen,

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Gentlemens.

Casey Hiers:
Quarterly. Yeah.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Okay.

Casey Hiers:
Looking good, Bud.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Thank you. Thank you. You look okay.

Casey Hiers:
What's on the docket?

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Well, last week we talked a little bit about upcoming Christmas and things like that, and I was like, I think there's another holiday coming up with some kind of fanfare to it. And it dawned on me, we've got New Years,

Casey Hiers:
Tis the season.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Coming up. Tis the season. And it made me think about what most people think about New Year's resolutions.

Casey Hiers:
Do you do those?

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Not really. I always have thoughts of I'd like to do this, but I don't tend to make a resolution, only because I don't like when people boss me around, especially myself. And so if I make it like a job, I won't do it.

Casey Hiers:
No, that's fair. I mean, sometimes people think that we put them on budgets and actually we just install all the right things and then the extra money is yours to spend.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Right.

Casey Hiers:
It's not about budgets. Right. Those aren't fun.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Yeah. Well, and a lot of times people's resolutions are about weight loss and things like that, where that's harder than it seems. And so I always try to do something different. This year I'm going to attempt to read more or I'm going to finally check off writing that script I've been wanting to write, something a little more tangible than just, well, I need to lose weight. I always have to lose weight.

Casey Hiers:
Yeah. I've never been into the resolutions. I mean, goal setting's important, and writing things down, but New Year's resolutions are cute.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
And that's what made me think about this was personal ones like that don't seem to really have too much an effect. I mean, if it works for you, it works for you, but I have found that when I've applied it to my professional life, it seemed to have done more.

Casey Hiers:
Interesting.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
I might want to take a couple more certifications and apply that knowledge to the marketing that I do here, and then the boss is like, wow, that's amazing. Here's a bunch of money.

Casey Hiers:
Yeah. No, a lot of resolutions are self-serving, but I think that the goal, like I said, goal setting, writing things down, if people need to call them resolutions, so be it.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Yep. And so I wanted to ask the listeners out there, what are some resolutions that you have been working on? I want you to think about something beyond weight loss, something beyond working out more. You need to have resolutions or a better word may be goals. Come up with some goals for next year or even next quarter, and have those thoughts in place. Casey, let me ask you. When you're out at events and talking to people and at exhibitions and things like that, what are some goals or maybe again, resolutions that you hear from people that they are hoping to do?

Casey Hiers:
Yeah, good question and I imagine our listeners can relate to a lot of it, but more consistency with staff or team, lower overhead, better cash flow, more predictability, more consistency, spend more time with patients, but still be efficient, right, almost like take time to smell the roses. A lot of times you'll hear somebody wants to learn a new procedure or go out to Scottsdale as a goal. Those are,

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Sure.

Casey Hiers:
Those are nice. I think it's more important than just saying, I want to have X amount of CE hours. What do you want to do with that CE? Well, I want to learn a new procedure so I don't have to refer so much out so that my practice is better. I can serve my patients better, cash flow, so I think that's a good route to go down. But yeah, I would say a lot of that, there's so much stress that practice owners have that they kind of keep to themselves, and so typically practice improvements and goals are ultimately around trying to help reduce stress, reduce all of the weight of the world that's on so many practice owner's shoulders.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
How often have you found, let's say a year from now, let's say you're at the Florida Convention, a year later, you run into the same guy again. How often have they fixed their stuff?

Casey Hiers:
Rarely.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Rarely.

Casey Hiers:
Yeah.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
And is it because they're trying to tackle it by themselves?

Casey Hiers:
So individual, yeah individually I think people can maybe tighten up one or two areas, but as we have mentioned, there's 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 things that we do to help practices. There's not that one or two. Right.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
And you always need that. Not always, but you need an expert. People need to talk to experts. If I did want to start working out more often, I probably would talk to a personal trainer or sign up for some kind of subscription because I don't really know how to work out, not going to lie, and I could end up hurting myself more than I could just by laying around all day.

Casey Hiers:
Well, the analogy I use sometimes is we don't just tell you to brush and floss. We brush and floss for you.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Right.

Casey Hiers:
And so to your point, oh, if you spend the money on a trainer, then you're more apt to do it and what have you, and that almost works. But again, for us, it's, yeah you've got to spend some money to have experts.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
You got to spend the money, you got to have the good advice, but also you have to have the drive to even want to follow that advice. You can always hire a personal trainer and not do a damn thing.

Casey Hiers:
Yeah. Yeah. Well, the good news is, like I said, for us, we're the personal trainer that lifts the weights for you, but yet you have all the muscle. I mean, ultimately, we really are driving the plan. We're strategizing, we're putting the path forward, we're driving it, we're leading our clients down that path so that they don't have to. The onus, the angst, the pressure, the stress, it's not on them.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Right.

Casey Hiers:
It's on us, and it makes what they have to do so much easier.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
And if you need a new workout set, we'll help you with that. We have that advice for you.

Casey Hiers:
I was just doing curling some 30s in there just to do something. It's such a busy time of year, no doubt about it.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Let me ask you, in terms of Four Quadrants and you being our national director and all that, what are some goals or resolutions you may have or now that I've got you thinking about it, that you want to do for the next year for 2023?

Casey Hiers:
It's simple. To sum it up, to be able to speak with as many practice owners as possible. It's really that simple of again, we're not for everybody. We,

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Spread the good word.

Casey Hiers:
Yeah. We're not for everybody. We can't help everybody, but the more people we can talk to who understand and conceptualize what our firm does and what we're about, which is getting practice owners to the next level financially, whatever that is, secondary benefit, less stress, life is better. But to sum up my goals it's to be able to do that on the grandest scale possible, to be able to help as many people as possible but to find the right people.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
How do you think we can accomplish that for you? Help you with that?

Casey Hiers:
Well, I think you just said it, right, events and there's so many dental events around the country. For us, it's determining the ones that we are going to attend that we're going to spend time at. I think this year we learned that hey, going to some state meetings is great. Others, it's like a science fair in elementary school, it's pretty light. And but implant, there's some implant meetings. Right. Aligning ourselves, we have a pursuit of excellence. Our results are not minor, our results are significant. We want to align ourselves with high achievers. How do we do that better?

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Right.

Casey Hiers:
I don't want to go talk with somebody who's not interested. If they're fat and happy, then that's great. Right. If they're content that's good for you.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Yep. There's nothing wrong with that.

Casey Hiers:
It's not for us.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Yep.

Casey Hiers:
We don't want you practicing more, but we want you to make more and save more and have lower overhead, and enjoy things. And so for us, it's finding those events, more of those events that align those achievers, those people that say, there's a better way. Show me. I want to be the best I can be.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
We're going to kick off the new year with events, just like you've been saying. We've got quite a few lined up and here's a couple that we're going to have just to kind of give you a feel of the quantity and the quality of what we're going to be doing. On January 13th, we're going to be in St. Louis at Topgolf for our avoid cash flow traps in your dental practice event. In Tucson on January 20th, we're going to have our real dental financial advice from the specialist event. In Atlanta, we'll be doing an avoid cash flow traps event, and then in,

Casey Hiers:
When is that Atlanta one?

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Atlanta, sorry. Thank you. Is February 3rd, and then February 8th, we're going to have an event in Cincinnati, co-hosted by SprintRay, and so then that's just four events kicking off the new year. We've got a lot more lined up. We're going to be all over the country.

Casey Hiers:
Well, it's a good mix. It's our own events in the cities that we want to go for practice owners to have the opportunity to hear, but we also love the more formal events, the big meetings, the small meetings, the midsize meetings.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
We're going to have our own events at Topgolf places and other venues. We're going to be out exhibiting. We're going to be at events where you're going to be speaking and they're more than likely having CE attached to that.

Casey Hiers:
Yeah, no doubt. Yeah. No, I like that. The resolution is to just have as many practice owners hear that they don't have to stay on the hamster wheel. There's another way.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
So your goal really is, is to touch as many dentists as possible.

Casey Hiers:
Yeah. I want to verbally reach as many as I can.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Listen, if you're listening to all this and you're ready to have a chat or a talk with Casey here, don't forget, we are giving out a free complimentary financial assessment. We're going to look at one area of your practice and kind of give you some advice on that. Visit fourquadrantsadvisory.com/assessment for that. Again, no obligations, totally free. There'll be a 15-minute phone conversation with Casey and we'll kind of go from there.

Casey Hiers:
Ultimately, it shows our expertise and gives people some true complimentary information about their practice that probably no one's told them.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
Right. That could save you a ton of money down the road.

Casey Hiers:
Potentially.

Jarrod Bridgeman:
All right. Thanks, Casey.

Casey Hiers:
Thank you.
