CLIENT STORIES

Drs. Chris and Jill Burns, Geist Oral & Facial Surgery; West Main Family Dental, Indiana

My experience has just been wonderful. Just the breadth of knowledge that is in this firm has really made me feel better about decisions that I have made. And, I think that we've seen a really big increase in what my practice has done over the last year.

Jill and I had for years been looking for an advisory group that would combine both the business and personal financial planning into a comprehensive plan. Basically, what they have done is restructured our accounting practices. That has significantly stabilized our cashflow. They helped significantly with our tax planning, which that was always a source of frustration, and that was one of the big goals.

FOUR QUADRANTS CLIENT SPOTLIGHT

Dr. Christopher A. Burns is originally from Richmond, Indiana. He is a board-certified oral & maxillofacial surgeon who received his undergraduate degree in biology from Indiana University in 1981. He earned his Doctorate in Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University in 1985. Upon completion of his dental school studies, he was elected into the OKU Honorary Dental Society. After earning his DDS degree, Dr. Burns completed a one-year General Practice Residency in the United States Navy in San Diego, California. He went on to serve a total of seven years of active duty as a Naval Dental Officer, with tours in the Philippines and Newport, Rhode Island. Dr. Burns then completed a four-year residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Indiana University Medical Center in 1996. Immediately following this residency, he entered into private practice in the Geist area. He also joined his wife Jill working part time at her practice in Richmond, Indiana.

Dr. Jill Burns graduated from Indiana University with a BA in 1980 and Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1984. She was a dental officer in the US Navy for seven years and has been practicing in Richmond since 1992. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Indiana Dental Association, the honorary societies of the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. She is a former representative to and President of the Indiana State Board of Dentistry. Dr Burns provides dental services for orphaned children in Honduras every year, as a member of the dental mission group, Sonrisas Siempre. Jill and Chris have three terrific sons and a delightful 6 year old granddaughter. She would love to be your dentist in Richmond.

Dr. Jill Burns:

I wanted to be a physician since the time I was six. A seminal thing happened when I was in 4th grade. I was at a back to teacher night and a little boy pulls his dad over to meet me. So he goes, "Daddy, Jill wants to be a doctor." And the man said, "Oh honey, she's just going to be a housewife." That kind of spurred me on for the last 50 years.

Narrator:

Jill's dream of being a doctor became a reality when she graduated from Indiana university School of Dentistry in 1984. While at IU, she met her future husband, and soon to be dentist himself, Chris Burns. The following year, not only did they become married, but they also decided to join the United States Navy.

Narrator:

After seven years of serving their country, they returned home. Jill started working at Chris' father's practice in Richmond, Indiana, and eventually she would purchase that practice. Chris went on to complete a four year residency in oral surgery, and then he entered into private practice where he is today.

Narrator:

Currently, Jill is very active with local and national dental organizations and was recently elected to be the next vice president of the Indiana Dental Association.

Dr. Jill Burns:

I really enjoy that because I get to have a lot of knowledge about all the different parts of the Dental Association, and I really enjoy mentoring dental students on ethics issues. So, there's a lot I do. I just get a lot of satisfaction in that I'm helping my profession. It also lets me know that I'm helping other people.

Dr. Chris Burns:

Jill and I had for years been looking for an advisory group that would combine both the business and personal financial planning into a comprehensive plan. Basically, what they have done is restructured our accounting practices. That has significantly stabilized our cashflow. They helped significantly with our tax planning, which that was always a source of frustration, and that was one of the big goals. And when we signed on with Four Quadrants is to alleviate that big question in our lives, and they've really achieved that in one year.

Dr. Jill Burns:

My experience has just been wonderful. Just the breadth of knowledge that is in this firm has really made me feel better about decisions that I have made. And, I think that we've seen a really big increase in what my practice has done over the last year. We have a grand daughter who's nine who is the light of our lives. She likes hanging out with us. That's for sure.

Dr. Chris Burns:

My pet name, what she calls me, is a Grumpy Grandpa. And so when she went to Disney World, she just had the buy me a grumpy dwarf T-shirt. I'm fine with it.

Interviewer:

Okay, so there must be some truth to it, and you just, "Yeah, that's true."

Dr. Chris Burns:

I don't think there's any truth.

Dr. Jill Burns:

The best news I heard today was, number one, that we've tripled our savings, and number two, that my numbers were way up from a year ago.

Dr. Chris Burns:

I would recommend Four Quadrants because they do what they say that they're going to do and they're very good at what they do.

Dr. Jill Burns:

And I would recommend Four Quadrants because they are very knowledgeable about their services that they provide and we have really seen the benefits both personally and in our businesses.
